Download Breeze
The launcher is free for Windows, macOS and Linux. Install it once; it sets up Java, Fabric and the Breeze mod for each Minecraft version you play.

If Windows or your antivirus warns you
This is expected, and Breeze is safe to install. Windows trusts an app straight away when it is signed with a code-signing certificate that Microsoft recognises. Breeze is not signed yet: a certificate costs about $500, and we have not bought one so far. Until we do, Windows SmartScreen shows Windows protected your PC, and some antivirus programs may flag the installer because it is new and unsigned, not because anything in it is harmful. Please do not be alarmed.
- Windows: choose More info, then Run anyway.
- macOS: open it once from System Settings, Privacy & Security, Open Anyway, as shown under Installing.
- Antivirus: if it moves the installer to quarantine, restore it from there. Ask in the Breeze Discord if you are unsure.
- Want to be sure? Compare your file's SHA-256 with the one listed under All files. If they match, you have exactly the file we published. How to check.
- Updates on Windows: from 1.0.31 the launcher installs its update over itself, in the same folder, and opens again on its own. Your shortcuts and taskbar pin stay where they are.
All files
Every file comes from the Breeze download server. The SHA-256 under each name lets you check the file you received is the one that was published; see Checking a download.

What you need
- Windows
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
- macOS
- macOS 12 Monterey or later. One app for Intel and Apple silicon Macs.
- Linux
- 64-bit (x86_64). The AppImage runs on most distributions; the
.deband.rpmpackages need WebKitGTK 4.1 and GTK 3, which your package manager installs with them. - Minecraft
- Minecraft: Java Edition, owned by the Microsoft account you sign in with. Bedrock Edition is not supported.
- Memory
- Minecraft gets 4 GB by default. You can change it, or let Breeze pick an amount from your computer's memory, in Settings.
- Java
- Nothing to install. The launcher downloads the Java runtime each Minecraft version needs from Mojang.
- Internet
- Needed to sign in and the first time you play each version, to download the game, Java, Fabric and Breeze.
Installing
The installers are not yet signed with a paid code-signing certificate, so Windows and macOS warn you the first time (why that is safe). The steps below show how to get past that warning.
Windows
- Run
Breeze-Client-…-x86_64.exe. It installs for your user only, into%LOCALAPPDATA%\Breeze Client. - If SmartScreen says Windows protected your PC, choose More info, then Run anyway.
- Open Breeze Client from the Start menu and sign in with Microsoft.
macOS
- Open the
.dmgand drag Breeze Client into Applications. - Open it. If macOS says it cannot check the app for malicious software, close the message, open System Settings, Privacy & Security, and choose Open Anyway next to Breeze Client.
- Confirm once more. After that it opens normally.
Linux
AppImage, any distribution:
chmod +x Breeze-Client-*.AppImage
./Breeze-Client-*.AppImage
Debian, Ubuntu, Mint:
sudo apt install ./Breeze-Client-*.deb
Fedora, openSUSE:
sudo dnf install ./Breeze-Client-*.rpm
The packages install the command breeze-launcher and a menu entry.
Checking a download
Work out the file's SHA-256 and compare it with the one listed under All files. If they differ, the file was damaged or changed on the way; delete it and download it again from this page.
Windows, in PowerShell:
Get-FileHash .\Breeze-Client-*.exe -Algorithm SHA256
macOS, in Terminal:
shasum -a 256 Breeze-Client-*.dmg
Linux:
sha256sum Breeze-Client-*
Updates and removing Breeze
The launcher checks for a new version when it starts. With Auto-Update Launcher on in Settings it installs the update itself; otherwise it tells you one is ready. The update installs over the current launcher and Breeze opens again by itself. You never update the Breeze mod by hand: the launcher fetches the right Breeze file for your Minecraft version every time you press Play.
To remove the launcher:
- Windows: Settings, Apps, Installed apps, Breeze Client, Uninstall.
- macOS: drag Breeze Client from Applications to the Bin.
- Linux: delete the AppImage, or run
sudo apt remove breeze-clientorsudo dnf remove breeze-client.
Removing the launcher keeps your game folder, .breezeclient in your home folder (%USERPROFILE%\.breezeclient on Windows). It holds your worlds, mods, screenshots and settings for every version. Copy out anything you want to keep before you delete it.
