The launcher

The launcher's sidebar has a page for each job. This guide goes through them in order, then through every setting.

Play

Choose a Minecraft version and press Play. The first launch of a version downloads the game, Java, Fabric and Breeze (see what happens on first launch); later launches start quickly. While Minecraft runs, the launcher either stays open or steps aside, depending on Keep Launcher Open in Config.

The version list shows full releases. Snapshots, Mojang's weekly test builds, are hidden unless you turn on Include Snapshot Versions. Breeze has no build for snapshots, so they start with Fabric but without Breeze features, and the launcher says so.

Mods

The Mods page searches Modrinth and installs Fabric mods into the folder of the version you have selected. Only mods that have a build for that Minecraft version are offered, so you do not end up with a mod that cannot load.

You can also put a Fabric mod's .jar straight into the version's mods folder. Forge and NeoForge mods do not work with Fabric.

The launcher manages the Breeze mod itself. If an older Breeze jar is found in a mods folder, it is moved to .breeze/legacy in that version folder, so two copies of Breeze never load at once.

Packs

Packs has three tabs: Resource Packs, Shaders and Datapacks. Search Modrinth and add a pack to the selected version. A pack moves through Downloaded, Installed and Enabled; you can disable it again without removing it.

Shader packs need a shader mod. On Fabric that is usually Iris, which you can add from the Mods page.

Store

The Store sells capes and other cosmetics made by Breeze creators. Prices are in Wind Charges, your Breeze balance: 64 Wind Charges cost 1 US dollar, and you top up with PayPal. Some items are free. Everything you own appears on the Style page and in the in-game Wardrobe. See Cosmetics.

You can also browse the catalogue on this website's store page. Free capes can be claimed there; paid ones are bought in the launcher.

Social

Social is your friends list: search for a player to add them, and open a conversation to send messages that only the two of you can read. The Breeze team can switch friends and messages off while they work on them; the page says so when that is the case.

Gifts

Gifts lets you give a cosmetic to a friend. Either buy one for them (you pay, they keep it) or send one you already own, which then leaves your inventory.

Breeze FM

Breeze FM plays music while you use the launcher. Its catalogue comes from Audius, a free music service, so you do not need an account or a subscription: search, or press play on any track.

Style

Style changes how the launcher looks and shows what your player is wearing.

Console

Console shows the log of the current or last game launch, with filters for All, Errors and Warnings. When Minecraft quits with an error, the launcher points you here. Copy the relevant lines into a support ticket if you need help.

Config: every setting

Performance

RAM Allocation
How much memory Minecraft may use. From 1.0.32 the launcher picks it for your computer the first time it starts: about 2 GB on a 4 GB computer, 3 GB on 6 GB, 4 GB on 8 GB, 6 GB on 16 GB and 8 GB on 32 GB or more. An amount you set yourself is kept. Giving Minecraft more than your computer can spare makes things slower, not faster, so the launcher never starts the game with more than your computer can give.
Auto-Set Recommended RAM
Applies an amount worked out from your computer's total memory.
Performance mods
From 1.0.32, the first time you play a version Breeze adds Sodium, Lithium, FerriteCore, EntityCulling and ImmediatelyFast for it, where a build exists. Together they speed up drawing the world, the game's own logic, memory use and the HUD, on slow laptops and fast desktops alike. A mod you already have is left as it is, and if you remove one in Mods it stays removed.
Performance Profile
Performance, Balanced or Quality. Choosing one installs a set of performance mods from Modrinth for the selected version, Sodium, Lithium and EntityCulling among them, where builds exist, and sets memory to 4, 6 or 8 GB, never more than your computer can give. Auto picks a profile for your computer.
Background Prewarm
Downloads game assets at startup, so the next launch has less to fetch.
Reduce Launcher GPU Usage
Keeps the launcher light while the game is running, leaving more of your graphics card to Minecraft.

Launcher

Auto-Update Launcher
Checks for a new Breeze release when the launcher starts and installs it.
Auto-Update Mods
Keeps mods the launcher installed up to date.
Keep Launcher Open
Leaves the launcher visible while Minecraft is running.
Include Snapshot Versions
Shows Minecraft snapshots in the version list. Snapshots run without Breeze features.

Java Runtime

Shows the Java the launcher has ready. Each Minecraft version gets the Java it needs, downloaded from Mojang the first time you launch it, so you normally never touch this.

About

Shows the launcher version, your computer's memory and whether the Breeze servers can be reached. Include the launcher version when you ask for help.

Moving from another client

Config has a Migrate from Other Clients section. Pick the Minecraft version you want the mods for first, then Detect Installed Clients looks for these on your computer, and Import brings over:

FromWhat is imported
Vanilla MinecraftMods, options, keybinds, resource packs and shader packs
Feather ClientMods and launcher preferences
Lunar ClientYour Fabric mods
Badlion ClientYour Fabric mods
Modrinth AppMods, resource packs, shader packs and options
CurseForgeFabric mods from your instances
Prism LauncherFabric mods from your instances

Mods are not copied as they are, because the other launcher may have run a different Minecraft version. Breeze searches that launcher's folders for Fabric mods, recognises each one on Modrinth (by the file itself, or by the mod's name), and installs the build made for your selected version, with anything it needs. A mod that is not on Modrinth is copied only if it says it runs on that version. Afterwards the row says how many mods were added, how many you already had, and which have no build for that version yet.

One-Click Migration imports from every client it found at once. Worlds are not imported; to bring a world over, copy its folder from the other client's saves folder into the Breeze version folder's saves.

Forge mods cannot be used with Fabric. Lunar's and Badlion's own built-in features are part of those clients and cannot be imported; Breeze's modules cover most of the same ground.

Modrinth packs

A Modrinth pack (.mrpack) is a whole mod setup in one file: the list of mods, plus configs and other files. In Config, Modrinth Pack (.mrpack), choose Choose File to install one; large packs show their progress while the mods download. To go the other way, the Mods page has an export button that saves the selected version's mods as a .mrpack, to share your setup or move it to another computer.
