Questions and answers
Short answers to what people ask most. Each one links to the full explanation.
Is Breeze free?
Yes. The launcher and the Breeze mod are free to download and use. Breeze earns money from optional cosmetics in the store. The launcher shows no ads. Nothing that affects how the game plays is sold.
Is Breeze safe to install?
Breeze downloads Minecraft and Java from Mojang, Fabric from Fabric's servers, mods and packs from Modrinth, and Breeze's own files from api.breezeclient.net. Windows and macOS show a warning the first time because the installers are not yet signed with a paid certificate, not because anything was found in them. Each download on the download page has a SHA-256 checksum so you can check your file is the published one. Only download Breeze from this website.
Do I need a Minecraft account?
Yes: a Microsoft account that owns Minecraft: Java Edition. Breeze signs in through Microsoft's own page and never sees your password. Offline or "cracked" accounts are not supported.
Can I use Breeze on servers?
Breeze has no auto-clicker, no movement hacks and no block x-ray, and it joins servers like any other Fabric client. Some modules do show things the normal game does not: Fullbright lights up dark areas, and Mob Overlay and Friend Glow draw outlines that can be seen through walls. Every server sets its own rules about modified clients, and many forbid features like these. Read the rules of the server you play on and switch off any module it does not allow. Breeze cannot promise that a server will accept a modified client.
Does Breeze work on Bedrock, consoles or phones?
No. Breeze is for Minecraft: Java Edition on Windows, macOS and Linux computers.
Can I use my own mods?
Yes, any Fabric mod for the same Minecraft version. Install them from the launcher's Mods page, or put the .jar in the version's mods folder. Forge and NeoForge mods do not work.
Does Breeze work with OptiFine?
No. OptiFine is not made for Fabric. Use Sodium for performance and Iris for shaders instead; both are on Modrinth, and the launcher's Performance Profile installs Sodium for you.
Where are my worlds? How do I bring worlds from the official launcher?
Each version's worlds are in .breezeclient/instances/<version>/saves. Breeze's import brings over mods, packs and settings but not worlds. To move a world, copy its folder from .minecraft/saves into the Breeze version folder's saves folder. Keep a backup until you have opened it in Breeze. Where your files are.
Does Breeze change my normal Minecraft install?
No. Breeze keeps its own folder, .breezeclient, and does not write to the official launcher's .minecraft folder. It only reads from .minecraft if you choose to import from it.
Can other players see my cape?
Players who use Breeze can. Players without Breeze see your normal Minecraft skin and cape. More about who sees cosmetics.
How do I open the Breeze menu?
Press Right Shift, or use the Breeze button on the title screen or pause menu. You can change the key in Options, Controls, Key Binds, under Breeze.
Does Breeze run on Apple silicon Macs and on Linux?
Yes. The macOS app is a single download for both Intel and Apple silicon Macs, on macOS 12 or later. Linux builds are for 64-bit x86 computers, as an AppImage, a .deb and an .rpm.
What does Breeze know about me?

Can I get a refund on a cosmetic?

Is Breeze made by Mojang or Microsoft?
